FAQs
What is Nitzanim?
Nitzanim translates to Bud, or sappling, beginning, or first sign. Here at GUCI, each of our units are parts of a tree so it only makes sense that our “rookie campers” are our saplings, or youngest trees. They are creating a budding interest in camp and meeting their new lifelong friends.
Your rising first or second grader is invited to a four-day-three-night experience for first-time campers! Taking place at Goldman Union Camp Institute in Zionsville, Indiana, campers will get a taste of a summer at GUCI.
From traditional GUCI-style services, to Bunk-Night-esque activities (grilling out, s’mores and fun activities), to swimming at the pool, to climbing the Migdal (our climbing tower), it’s a great introduction to camp.
If my child has never been to an overnight camp before, can they come to this?
YES! This event is designed for first-time campers, so it does not matter if your child has been to any camp, or even a sleepover, this is a great introduction to camp.
How will my child get to GUCI?
You are welcome to bring your child or carpool with another family. Dropoff is from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. on opening day and pickup is from 10-11 a.m. on closing day.
What does my child need to bring with them?
We will provide a packing list with details, but plan on them bringing bedding, a towel, toiletries, pajamas, shower shoes, clothes that can get messy and a water bottle!
What will my child be doing at camp?
We will have a variety of activities including a GUCI-style services, electives (art, archery, Migdal/Climbing Tower), swimming and much more!
What if my child takes medication?
We will have a medical professional onsite throughout the weekend to handle medication disbursement. We will send you instructions on how to package your child’s medication.
What if my child has special dietary needs?
Our kitchen is prepared to handle most dietary restrictions. Just let us know in the paperwork and we will work with you to ensure your child has plenty to eat!
Can I come and learn about camp too?
YES! All parents will be invited to tour camp and get all of your questions answered. We will share details as we approach the summer.
How much does this cost?
The fee for the experience is $500. This includes food, programming and t-shirt.
Is payment due all at once?
