We are thrilled to share some incredible news with the GUCI community! Lilly Endowment Inc. has awarded a $750,000 grant to the URJ Goldman Union Camp Institute (GUCI) through the Capital Projects Initiative for Residential Overnight Camps in Indiana –a grant program supporting residential youth camps across Indiana
This generous grant will enable us to transform and expand our kitchen, which is in urgent need of updates and refurbishment.
The project will include:
- Expanding our walk-in fridge, freezer, and dry storage spaces;
- Reconfiguring the existing kitchen layout for efficiency and safety; and
- Improving our ability to accommodate dietary needs across our diverse camper/staff community.
At GUCI, the kitchen is the heart of camp life, where staff prepare more than 1,100 meals each summer day. With these upgrades, we can ensure that every camper and staff member experiences a safe, efficient, and inclusive food service, whether it’s a daily meal or a special program.
This milestone reflects GUCI’s ongoing commitment to providing a modern, welcoming, and functional environment for campers from Indiana and across the Midwest. We are deeply grateful to Lilly Endowment for supporting this initiative and investing in the future of residential youth camps in Indiana.
