Yom Tiyul

Our Gezah campers went on Yom Tiyul, a two day, one night camping trip. This trip is always full of memories, exciting moments and new discoveries. Some of our campers wanted to share part of their experience with the world:

“Yom Tiyul was a fun experience and a great way to connect with nature. My favorite part was the hike. We passed trees, rocks, patches of sunlight, and a stream. Although we may have taken a couple of wrong turns, leading us to walk in a circle once or twice, it was an amazing and peaceful experience that I will never forget.” –Charlie Blumer, Cabin 15

“On Yom Tiyul, I learned how to use coordinates to find places around the campsite. I had a lot of fun finding a geocache with my cabin. Yom Tiyul helped make our cabin bond stronger.” – Cydney Platt, Cabin 5

“This year’s Yom Tiyul was at Great Mounds State Park. We got to go hiking, fishing, and geocaching. I loved it all. The best thing about Yom Tiyul is how you get to bond with others. I loved it. My only piece of advice though is bring bug spray. And your love of cabin mates and GUCI spirit.” – Emily Frankel, Cabin 6

“One of my favorite parts of Yom Tiyul was the hike that we took on Wednesday. We went geocaching, so we took a GPS and looked for the spot where the geocache was. All we knew was that it was a fifteen foot radius of where we were standing. After about 10 minutes, I saw a box behind a log! It was the geocache! Inside the box, there was a notebook, a pencil, and other random things like quarters and pens. I wrote “GUCI KA (Kallah Aleph) Yom Tiyul,” and then my name and the date in the notebook. Yom Tiyul was so much fun!” – Joel Greenfield, Cabin 15

“A long bus ride to the campsite where we eat lunch and go out for a long hike (where we almost got lost_ and come back to relax at night. We’re packed like sardines onto a tarp, and sleep under the stars. Morning and we wake up, breakfast, a little free time, then activities, fishing and a short round of geocaching. All together, it has been a fun Yom Tiyul, a two days and a night of camping with your unit.” – Jessica Alpern, Cabin 5

“Yom Tiyul started Tuesday the 23rd. We all loaded onto the buses, and off we went. I have to say it was an amazing trip. It was filled with singing, dancing, happiness, and tons more. We took a hike through the woods, and I had never felt so at one with nature. The blowing trees, and squeaks of animals. The best part was just being surrounded by my favorite people on earth. I love the way I got to experience a wonderful setting along with amazing people.” –Talia Granick, Cabin 7

“Yom Tiyul was such a great experience! I had such a good time. My favorite memory was the campfire. All of Gezah was singing together and the fire was beautiful that night. I was so happy spending time with my GUCI family! I also enjoyed both of the hikes I went on. I got to talk with my friends and enjoy the beautiful nature all around me. I know that I will never forget this amazing experience.” –Sarah Silver, Cabin 6
