Growing Up At GUCI

GUCI, more than anywhere else, is where I grew up.  I know many of the most important people in my life from GUCI, and knowing these people has impacted everything from the sports I play, to my Jewish identity, to where I chose to go to college.  Now that I have been coming to GUCI every summer for the majority of my life, I can look at any field or building around camp and think of a few important memories that took place in that location.

I learned how to be a great friend as a GUCI camper, and I was given the opportunity to connect with Judaism with my best friends in a setting that is unique to Jewish camps, particularly GUCI.  As a staff member, I’ve learned what a massive responsibility my counselors took on when I was their camper.  Knowing how much I care about my campers and how much my co-counselors care about our campers makes me feel like my time as a camper was incredibly special, because I know my counselors cared about me just as much.  You can feel the love from your first day at GUCI, and I have never found another place like it.
