Services for June 24, 2014
Shalom! Almost every evening at camp, we have a different cabin lead T’fillot (services). Each camper writes a part and reads it before all of camp in between the prayers we say or sing as a community. This way, every camper gets the opportunity to share something of themselves with the wider camp, and to teach the community something about their values, Judaism, or their connection to our prayers. Our cabin services make each of our T’fillot that much more unique and meaningful. —Jacob Kraus, T’fillah Specialist

From the first day to now I have gone through a lot of things. A big cycle of wonderful moments. But the most important is a blessed time and to be happy with everyone at GUCI. When I met my best friend I was happy. I have been best friends with them ever since. Right now I have the privilege and opportunity to make new friends. -Abby Sanders

I love Yom sport because we got to do stuff as a group. I love the migdal because I get help and it is fun. I love all my friends in my cabin. They are nice and kind. I love the pool because people encourage me to try new things. And I love GUCI the way God loves his people Israel. -Elisa Nerenberg
A person’s love of God relates to my love of GUCI. People love God because he created the world and I love GUCI because of the cool things that are created for me. I love GUCI because of all of the memories it brings and all the friends I have met. -Rebecca Blumer

Another day another discovery. When I was little I didn’t even know who God was. Now I do. God is like a symbol of the Sh’ma. The Sh’ma blesses God and says there is only one God. Echad means one. If there is more than one God we would not be what we are today. God was the one who brought us together. Now God will live forever and so will GUCI. Everyday we say this prayer which connects us all together. I also discovered we are all different and unique in our own way. I have now discovered that GUCI is one of the best places to bless god. Please rise for the Sh’ma. -Ainsley Freedman

Mi Chamocha is about entering a new life of freedom. When I came to GUCI for the first time I entered a new life…. A life where you are free to be yourself. At GUCI nobody judges a book by its cover or tells you that you can’t do something. These things helped me to become closer to God. -Ellye Alperin

GUCI is a peaceful place. This relates to the Hashkiveinu because the Hashkiveinu talks about shelter the peace like our counselors do. I discovered peace by being kind and loyal. A friend is loyal when they help another friend. I try to help someone every day. -Sienna Shapiro

I cannot wait to become a counselor. I then can help to keep recreating GUCI’s memories. I love meeting new friends and how they support me through good times and hard activities. GUCI is teaching me how to become a leader just like the Amida talks about. -Ella Naveh
As you grow you begin to have more wisdom and leadership qualities. Our cabins theme is scientific sweethearts and it’s important to try new things. In art chug I helped another camper and that is how I showed leadership. Please rise for the Amida. -Lauren Chopp

The Shalom Rav relates to me at GUCI a lot. GUCI has taught me the meaning of Shalom Rav, Peace, holiness, and blessing. When I think of peace I think of the slow part of Shabbat. This year I am going for four weeks and I am learning so much! -Sarah Malter

I really enjoy being at GUCI. Not only am I unique but my so are my bunkmates. I am discovering so many new things like how to make friends and how great GUCI is. I love GUCI and being Jewish. -Cecilia Messina
The Aleinu reminds me of what makes my family unique. I look exactly like what my mom looked like when she was my age! Second, I moved into a new house and it has a pool. My GUCI family is also unique. My friends support me and help me through bad times. Please Rise for the Aleinu. -Lily Hoberman
