Jeremy Klotz, Camp Director
Jeremy spent his first summer at GUCI in 1975 and has been connected to the camp ever since. He went through the camper ranks, was in the Avodah program, served as a Machon and counselor and was a Unit Head for several summers. For the last 13 years, Jeremy has served GUCI as a lay leader on the Camp Committee, and became the Chair of the committee in May 2013. He has provided strong leadership to GUCI over the years, and has demonstrated his commitment to the camp and to enhancing and improving the GUCI experience for campers, parents and alumni. Jeremy credits GUCI as being instrumental in the development of his Jewish identity and curiosity. He attended Hebrew day school at the Hebrew Academy of Indianapolis, studied abroad at Tel Aviv University during college, and is currently a member of the Wexner Foundation’s Wexner Heritage Program. Prior to his appointment as Camp Director, Jeremy enjoyed a 13-year legal career advising clients on risk management, dispute resolution, employment issues and compliance. He has also worked with several not-for-profit boards managing large projects and fundraising efforts.
Jeremy cherishes GUCI’s community-focused program grounded in Jewish and cultural experiences, and believes deeply in the camp’s mission. He is passionate about creating an environment where campers and staff can grow as both people and Jews. He also believes strongly that a well-balanced program incorporating activities, special interest programming and good old fashioned summertime fun is essential the camp’s long-term success.
Jeremy and his wife, Melissa, are GUCI lifers having met at camp as kids nearly 25 years ago. They have two daughters, Zoe and Maya. Jeremy graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Psychology and has a Juris Doctor from the DePaul University College of Law.
Rachel Waldorf, Associate Camp Director
Rachel, originally from New Jersey, grew up going to URJ Camp Harlam. She graduated from Rutgers University majoring in both Psychology and Jewish Studies. While in college, she served as a campus chair of Residence Hall Association, where she supervised a committee of students that focused on campus programming and advocacy. She was also a Resident Assistant, which provided great experience mentoring young adults, training on campus security issues, program planning, and marketing. As a Peer Network Engagement Intern for Hillel, and a Reform Campus Entrepreneur Intern for the URJ, Rachel learned how to engage Jewish youth of all ages. After graduating from Rutgers, Rachel participated in a program called Tikkun Olam, which focused on coexistence within Israel. She spent six months volunteering at different non-profit organizations in the Tel Aviv/Jaffa community and taking classes at a secular yeshiva in Tel Aviv. She is now pursuing her Masters Degree in Non Profit Management. Rachel is very excited to be a part of the GUCI community. She is looking forward to working with staff to help create memorable summer experiences.
Dori Singer Zoot, Assistant Director
Dori Singer Zoot is a passionate, enthusiastic, youth worker with a dedication to engaging Jewish adolescents and teens in meaningful programs. Dori grew up in Arizona, spending her summers at camp and in NFTY during the school year. By the time she was 13, Dori declared she was going to spend every summer for the rest of her life at camp, and has worked every day since to make that happen. Dori went on to receive degrees from Arizona State University and Hebrew Union College in Nonprofit Leadership & Management, Youth Service Leadership, and Jewish Education for Adolescents and Emerging Adults. Prior to joining the GUCI team, Dori served as the NFTY Ohio Valley Regional Director, where she was able to build relationships with teens, families, and congregations, while falling in love with the GUCI community.
Dori is a product of years at Camp Newman, Camp Stein, Kutz Camp, 6 Points Sports California, and GUCI. Knowing at a young age that she wanted a career in Jewish youth work, Dori made it a point to spend summers working at multiple camps across the country to best understand what it takes to run a successful summer program. Having held all kinds of roles from Counselor to Unit Head, Communications Director to Program Director, Dori has experienced how each piece is integral to the bigger picture of making the magic of camp happen. Now as part of the GUCI team, Dori is excited to use her passion for fostering community and talent for building relationships to contribute to the great work that GUCI does for our campers, families, staff, faculty, and alumni.
Dori and her camp best friend (now husband), Austin, live together in Cincinnati where Austin is the Rabbi Educator at Valley Temple. Aside from her love of Jewish youth engagement, Dori also loves all things Disney, eating tacos, baking challah, and going on outdoor adventures in her favorite shoes: her Chacos!
Jillian Shkolnick, Assistant Camp Director
Jillian grew up in Des Moines, Iowa, attending GUCI since she was in Shoresh. After seven years as a camper Jillian worked on staff for four summers – as a Counselor, Assistant Pool Director, Gezah Head Counselor and Avodah Unit Head for Avodah 2013. She graduated from DePaul University in 2014 with a dual degree in public relations/advertising and communications.
After college, she worked in Chicago at Edelman, a world-renowned communications marketing agency where she supported global clients in their corporate communication efforts. She enjoyed traveling for work and helping clients communicate to stakeholders.
Jillian is thrilled to return to her first true love – camp – and put her skills to work, helping create a meaningful experience for future generations of campers. Her favorite spot on camp is the pool or the sports field at night.
